(And how to use them)

Looking for some legitimate survey sites?

Everyone these days is looking for a side hustle. Maybe you need to pay off some debt or make a little side money. Either way, surveys are a fun and easy option.

But, how do you know what ones are legitimate? Well, that is why I have made this list.

There are so many different sites out there claiming to pay you for your opinion….then they want you to pay. Or they end up asking you for your social security number, birthday, last street address etc.

Whoa now. Ain’t no one needing to know that but your mama. And even if she started asking those questions, you would be a bit suspicious.

Backstory

About 7 years ago, I was a stay at home mom. My husband worked some crap factory jobs for crap money. We went through him getting laid off from a few and having to live off bare minimum. We needed some extra cash and I was desperate.

Going back to work at that time, was not an option as we did not have a babysitter. I couldn’t just leave my kid with anybody and we couldn’t rightly afford daycare. I started digging around and found some ways to bring it in straight from my computer.

Survey sites were my main option.

While surveys are a good source of extra income, I also have a few tricks for scoring freebies. Check out my Free stuff post for ideas.

A few survey site pointers before you dig in:

Never Pay

A real survey site is going to pay you. There is no reason you would ever need to pay to join or pay to take a survey.

If It Looks Spammy, its probably spam

If you click on something that says they are going to pay you $1,000 for a survey. Or a whole bunch of pop up come up on your screen. That’s junk. Don’t fall for any of that.

Never Give Out personal Information

By personal information, I mean your social security number, or your bank information.

Surveys are going to ask for your age, birthday, how many people are in your family, your annual income etc. This matches you for surveys that are going to fit you and your family. You don’t want to answer questions about your kids….if you don’t have kids.

There are also times that they will ask you for your name and address. Only provide that if it is a proven site. Do your research before responding. The sites that I am about to give you, are all legit, and you can provide that information to them. They only use this to send payment, and sometimes product tests.

Answer Honestly

You are depending on these sites to pay you for your efforts. They are depending on you to give them real, truthful answers.

Answering honestly not only helps the company to put out good products that will sell. It also keeps you from buying something crappy.

“New Oreo flavor. Baked beans!.” Yeah. No one wants that. Tell them the truth.

Make A New Email Address

I can’t stress this enough. Make an email account just for your surveys and freebies.

You will get tons of emails telling you when there are new surveys, or products. Just tons of emails. You are not going to want them all to go to your regular email and jam it up.

DO NOT sign up for their “extras”

You will CONSTANTLY see offers for “free prepaid visa gift card” and all that other bologna. Don’t do that. Just click no. Here is an example below:

This is crap. just click no on all of those. If a site is asking these every other survey, you can just drop that site. I would not deal with these, there are better sites out there, I can promise you that.

Here is what you all came here for:

15 Legitimate Survey Sites

These sites are all used by me personally for the past 7 years.

1. PineCone Research

pinecone research

Pinecone Research has been one of my go-to survey sites for about 7 years. When I was broke and needed cash, they came through.

This one is not open all of the time, so you will have to remember to check on it every once in a while to see if they are accepting new members. As of now, they are!

On this site you will be matched with surveys that fit you. They will send you email notifications when new surveys are available. Remember to take these as soon as possible. The more reliable you are, the more surveys they will send you.

I have found that they pay between $3-$30 a survey! This makes them the highest paying on this whole list.

You cash out on this one through paypal or other various giftcards.

Bonus: This one is known for product testing. There is a lot of opportunities to be chosen for product testing on this one. If you get to the end of a survey, and they ask if you would be willing to receive and test a new product, most of the time you will be chosen.

2. Ipsos: I-say

To join, just create a login and take an introductory survey.

Under the survey tab, you will see all surveys and polls that are available to you. Each survey will tell you how long it will take to complete it, and how many point you will be rewarded for completing.

Points convert to gift cards. 500 pints will get you a $5 giftcard. They have quite a few options to choose from.

3. Swagbucks

Swagbucks is an awesome option for people who want to earn money doing more than just taking surveys.

While you can take surveys for points, swagbucks gives you other options. You can watch videos, play games, print coupons, earn cash back on purchases, etc.

This site is definitely a boredom buster. If you are bored, and want to make some extra cash, this one is for you.

It is pretty easy to navigate. The homepage has all of the categories that you can earn from.

4. Yougov

This site is pretty straight forward. Once you create a profile and log in you will be taken to your home page. This shows you how many points you have, and your options for how to spend them. If you don’t have enough points to buy anything, your options will be grayed out. On the right, you will see your survey opportunities.

Yougov- Survey site

YouGov also has an app that you can download on your phone. It pays $50 a month just to keep it installed.

I feel that its a little janky or spammy myself. If you don’t want it, just tell them no, because they will ask you at the end of surveys.

5. Toluna

Toluna is super easy to work. Once you sign up, just click the button at the top that says “Start Survey” to jump right into a survey.

If you want to pick your surveys, go to “Surveys” and “Surveys Center” at the top. This takes you to your survey homepage.

Here, you can choose from surveys that Toluna recommends or pick from different lengths or categories of the surveys.

Toluna-Survey Site

Each survey will tell you about how many points you get for taking it. Cash out is a minimum of 3000 for a $10 gift card.

6. One Opinion

One opinion is so easy to join. It literally walks you through the process step by step. Once you go through the process of joining, you will need to wait on an email to confirm your email address. Then, you are all set to start.

7. Minds Pay

Note: On this site, you will literally click through 3 pages of crap offers before you get to your homepage, where the surveys are. This only happens when you first sign up, so please just hang tight.

When you first sign up, you will be asked questions like this:

Click “No” on every single one of these. They are bogus.

Once you get through these questions you will be taken to your actual list of surveys, they will look like this:

Minds Pay- Survey site

I will warn you again, on the ones that are about $10 or more, that is going to be an app download. You download an app on your phone and they monitor your searches and shopping. I personally, do not do these. They seem like spyware to me….but to each their own!

If you stick to the actual surveys, money can definitely be made here.

8. LifePoints Panel

This is the company that replaced Mysurvey (which was one of my old favorites).

Once on this site you will need to create a profile and login. After that Go to Lifepoints home and look under “Your Top Opportunities.” This will be where all available surveys will be located.

Once you complete the surveys you will be paid in lifepoints.

Lifepoints can be traded in for giftcards or paypal money. Each one of these converts differently, so you will have to figure out which way you want to cash out. For Amazon 550 lifepoints converts to a $5 gift card. For Paypal, 600 lifepoints converts to a $5 gift-card. But remember, Paypal money can be transferred to your bank account that way you can end up getting cash for it.

Each survey pays differently depending on the length.

This site is also known for getting you product testing opportunities. I have had quite a few myself.

9. National Consumer Panel

This is a little different than regular survey sites. While NCP does send surveys out from time to time, they main dig is their grocery scanner. Once you sign up and qualify, you will be sent a scanner in the mail. When you get home with your groceries, you scan them as you are putting them away and NCP pays you. Honestly, I never had time to fully commit to this, but the month that I DID to it, I made $30. So, the money is there, as long as you stay committed to it!

10. Opinion Outpost

11. Inbox Dollars

Inbox Dollars is probably the most entertaining out of all of these survey site options. There are tons of different ways to make money. You can click through paid emails, watch videos, play games, or take traditional surveys. Get your first $5 for just signing up.

12. Survey Junkie

Survey Junkie’s interface is super easy to use. Once you create an account you will be taken to your home page.

Here, you can see surveys available to you, and how many points you will make. To cash out, you will need to reach $10. I took 1 survey, and already have $3.02 in my account.

13. Vindale Research

Once you create your profile you will be taken to your homepage. There, you will see all surveys available to you, and how much they pay.

Visit the payment center to cash out. You must have $50 to cash out.

14. Valued Opinions

15. Product Report Card

Product Report Card is one of the easiest survey sites you will sign up for. Create a profile. Answer some initial profile questions and then start receiving survey opportunities through your email. Best part is, it tells you up front how much you will make per survey.

Go, sign up and watch you email for your first survey opportunity!

Well, that wraps up my list of legitimate survey sites. Now, there are many other sites out there as well. These are just the ones that I have personally used myself. Remember to keep my tips and tricks in mind when using other sites. Trust your judgment, and HAVE FUN!
